In the 18th and 19th centuries, the town of Schwedt was one of the Brandenburg towns with a relatively high proportion of Jewish citizens. In the second half of the 19th  century, the community numbered about 200 members. The time of the National Socialist dictatorship led to the expulsion or extermination of all Schwedt Jews. Today, the Jewish cemetery and the preserved ritual bath still remind us of the time when Schwedt still had Jewish citizens. A museum takes care of the sites today. The museum is open seasonally from May to September.

Synagogendienerhaus und Mikwe
On the left of the picture is the synagogue servants' house made of gray half-timbering and pink plaster. To the right is the Jewish ritual bath. It consists of different parts of the building. The background is formed by a rectangular transverse bar with a monopitch roof sloping down to the west, which is framed at the ends by two risalits. The west-facing entrance fronts were designed to resemble temples. Asymmetrically offset to the right in front of it is a brick domed building with a lantern, which covers the immersion bath.

Synagogenüberdachung
In 2020, a wooden cuboid room was built over the foundations and original floor of the Schwedt synagogue, which was destroyed in 1938. Its façade is clad with transverse wooden slats on vertical beams. A floor-to-ceiling window front allows light to flood into the interior. A garden with benches and trees stretches out in front of the room.
