Eduard Bloch was born on August 20, 1831, and was a theater bookseller, translator, and author.
In 1857 he took over the theater publishing house "Leopold Lassar's Buchhandlung" and transformed it in such a way that it became the first German specialized publishing house for theater literature.
His son Ludwig(1859-1939) took over the management of the publishing house in 1887 and renamed it "Eduard Bloch".
