Production

The roots of the M.G.Ledermann company go back to the year 1832 in Schwarza. Meyer G. Ledermann founded the leather shop M.G.Ledermann there. Gustav Ledermann moved his father's leather shop to Gotha in 1867, initially to Am Hauptmarkt 25, then from 1872 to Am Hauptmarkt 13 and from 1873 to what is now Gutenbergstra<e 2. From 1876 Gustav Ledermann (1841-1915) ran the business together with his brother Moritz Ledermann (1850-1899). In 1879, the company moved to the newly purchased building at Huttenstrasse 14.

Siegfried Bastheim was born in Hofgeismar on January 5, 1877, to parents Simon and Sara Bastheim, née Heilbrunn, who ran a shop for agricultural supplies at Petristraße 1 in Hofgeismar. Siegfried Bastheim never met his father. He died a few months before he was born. After completing elementary school, Siegfried Bastheim attended a mechanical engineering school and became an engineer.  Around 1910 he moved to Dortmund and founded the  Dortmunder Kettenfabrik Ingenieur Siegfried Bastheim“ at Münsterstraße 259. In 1921, Simon Bastheim married Ernestine (Erna) Sachs from Breslau.

Factory owner Eduard Marx, born in 1854, died in February 1904, leaving behind his wife Babette, née Rothschild, born in 1865, and their children-Grete-3 years old, Alfred-5 years old, Julius-9 years old and Leopold-15 years old.Due to Eduard Marx's early death, Babette Marx and the four children suddenly became the sole owners of the Gutmann & Marx mechanical belt and ribbon weaving mill.The widow, who was not only responsible for the upbringing but also for the company, found support in the former co-owner.

The address book of the city of Nürnberg from 1888 contains the following entry: Weinberger, Gebrüder, Fabrik von Leinen, Baumwollwaren u.  Hopfenzwilliche, Josephsplatz 16.

First business of the knitting and knitwear factory in 1870.

Wilhelm Frank (born 1842), father of Emmy Rubensohn, founds a textile factory in Halle in 1865 with his brother Selmar Frank (born 1837). Ten years later, they move their company to Leipzig. Emmy's brother Hermann (born 1875) and Richard, Selmar's son, take over as managing directors.

Richard Frank leads the reestablishment of the Jewish community in Leipzig. 24 Jews were in Leipzig at the end of the war, 250 in November 1945.

The knitting and knitwear factory (1865) founded by Wilhelm Frank (*1842) father of Emmy and Selmar Frank (*1837) uncle of Emmy. The factory building still exists in part today.

Moses Samuel Landauer was born on April 12, 1808 in Krumbach-Hürben. After an apprenticeship as a weaver and six years of traveling, he passed his master craftsman's examination in 1833 and set up his own business. The master weaver set up 2 looms in his parents' house. After his marriage to Klara Guggenheimer, he built himself a house in which he set up 12 looms in the cellar. From 1857 to 1858, he was finally able to put his own mechanical weaving mill with 32 looms into operation in his newly built factory in Krümbach-Hürben.

Richard Kohn was born on December 29, 1856 in Lipkowitz ( Lipkovice). His parents were Moritz Kohn and Sofie Sara Kohn, née Löw. Richard Kohn had five siblings - Albine, born on December 25, 1858, Gabriele, born on November 11, 1863, Ludwig, born on February 13, 1866, Joseph, born on February 18, 1869 and Victor, born on January 17, 1871. on February 18, 1869 and Victor, born on January 17, 1871. Richard Kohn was married to the daughter of Leopold and Luise Löw, née Fischel - Hermine Kohn, born on February 18, 1864 in Prague.

The soap boiler Isaack Levy Enoch (born 1801) practiced his trade in the Blumlage (Altenceller Vorstadt) in house no. 11. He died in 1856 and his grave is located in the Jewish cemetery in the Hehlentor district (Am Berge/Hügelstraße).
