Bookstore and publishing house M. Poppelauer
On May 22, 1860, Moritz Poppelauer (1824-1880) founded the bookstore M. Poppelauer and soon expanded it to include a publishing house. After his death, the business remained in the family and was continued from 1894 by his son-in-law Jacob Saenger, who died on February 14, 1939, eight weeks after the Nazis closed the business. The internationally known bookstore with an attached antiquarian bookshop specialized in Hebraica and Judaica and also sold Jewish ritual items, especially on the holidays.
Kersten & Tuteur, The House of Fashions
The fashion house was considered one of the top fashion addresses in Berlin until the 1930s and was known for its attractive window displays. The graphic artist and illustrator Ernst Deutsch was hired for the company's marketing. Around 1912, he designed advertising slips and advertising stamps that gave an impression of the elegant style of fashion. Some of the advertising slips are also on display in the JMB's permanent exhibition. The former business house of Kersten & Tuteur is one of the few historical buildings in Leipzigerstraße that has been preserved.
Werderscher Markt department store Herrmann Gerson
The department store Herrmann Gerson was one of the oldest textile department stores in Berlin, known for its elegant fashion, high-quality fabrics and carpets. Hermann Gerson was one of the pioneers of Berlin ready-to-wear. The department store was famous for its fashion shows, and its clientele was well-heeled. In fashion magazines of the 1920s, for example, Die Dame or Styl can be found many drawings of exquisite Gerson models.

Jacobi commercial building (1912/13 - 1934), today hotel "Orania.Berlin" (since 2017)
The history of the hotel "Oriana.Berlin" began more than 100 years ago, when the textile entrepreneur and city councillor Leopold Jacobi (1847-1917) planned the construction of a new, representative commercial building at Oranienplatz. Jacobi commissioned the well-known Berlin architectural firm of Wilhelm Cremer and Richard Wolffenstein, who had made a name for themselves in synagogue construction, among other things. The contract was awarded in 1912, and the new office building was ready for occupation in 1913.

The cloth wholesale business of Meyer Holzinger and Julius Heymann, which had existed since 1861, was moved from Promenadenplatz 13 to Promenadeplatz 21 in 1874.

Luxury and leather goods store Albert Rosenhain
The Leipziger Straße was the shopping mile of Berlin around 1900. Due to the construction of the splinted horse-drawn tramway and the introduction of electric lighting, it had developed into a booming shopping street in the growing metropolis since the 1880s. It was home to department stores as well as numerous specialized and well-run retail stores that sought to satisfy the consumer desires of Berlin's and international clientele and vied for their favor. Almost the entire Leipziger Strasse was completely destroyed in a bombing raid in 1943.
Art shop - Jordan Brothers & Co
Owner of the art gallery " Gebrüder Jordan & Co " was Siegfried Jordan. Together with his wife Paula, née Frank (art dealer) from Steinach an der Saale, whom he married on 16.12.1921 in Bad Kissingen, he operated the art gallery from 1822 first in Blumenstraße 21/0, from 1930 in Herzog-Rudolf-Straße 29/0 and finally (from about 1935) in Prinzregentenstraße 2/0. In the course of the Aryanization, the gallery was then taken over in 1937 by Siegfried Niemeitz übernommen. The brother Heinrich Jordan also operated the gallery Gebr. Jordan & Co.
Glue industry - Felix Gutmann
Felix Gutmann, a native of Kissingen, was the owner of the company Glue Industry and advertised as a supplier to state railroads and administrations. In addition, he operated a credit agency that provided information on the creditworthiness of companies and business partners. He was married to Erna Gutmann,née Haas from Fürth.The couple had three children - Ilse (1914), Elsbeth (1916) and Paul Josef (1920).The morning after the Reich pogrom night, Felix Gutmann was taken to the Bad Kissingen district court prison together with 27 other Bad Kissingen Jews.
