Art shop - Jordan Brothers & Co

Owner of the art gallery " Gebrüder Jordan & Co " was Siegfried Jordan. Together with his wife Paula, née Frank (art dealer) from Steinach an der Saale, whom he married on 16.12.1921 in Bad Kissingen, he operated the art gallery from 1822 first in Blumenstraße 21/0, from 1930 in Herzog-Rudolf-Straße 29/0 and finally (from about 1935) in Prinzregentenstraße 2/0.  In the course of the Aryanization, the gallery was then taken over in 1937 by Siegfried Niemeitz übernommen. The brother Heinrich Jordan also operated the gallery Gebr. Jordan & Co. in Brienner Straße 14/0 (at last) and the brother Arthur Jordan also maintained a gallery. Both brothers emigrated to the USA (1936/1937). Brother Emil emigrated to the USA as early as 1910. Sister Marie, married Schwarzschild, also emigrated to Baltimore in May 1941. Siegried Jordan and his wife Paula were deported together with 1000 other Jewish Münchnern to Kaunas on November 20, 1941, where they were murdered on November 25, 1941. Sister Rosa, married Harburger was deported to Auschwitz on March 13, 1943 and murdered. Sister Klara survived because of her marriage to a non-Jew. The Jordan couple succeeded in May 1939 to make it possible for their son Peter to emigrate to England.
