Branch of the shop for money lending and jewelry trade founded in Halberstadt. 

The large shop (from about 1720 repräsentative in the Alte Posthaus, Landhausstraße 13) employed and housed up to 70 jüdische employees who are not "vergleitet" - so without protection letter - 

The Schönwald family emigrated to the USA in 1939. Today, a memorial stone inaugurated in 2008 commemorates the former department store and the Schönwald family.

The old factory building on Hospitalstraße is currently empty (as of 2018). It has belonged to the city of Lippstadt for a long time. The hall is to be converted in the next few years into a depot for the city museum.

Against the Rathausstraße 8, since 2003, there has been a „Jewish memorial sign“ which was inaugurated in the presence of the then chairman of the Central Council of Jews, Paul Spiegel.
