Bahnhofstraße
35630 Ehringshausen
Germany
A synagogue or the prayer room was in a building in the center of the village at the Bahnhofstra;e. Little is known about its history.
The prayer room had a size of 4.00 m x 5.35 m and was, according to Arnsberg (s.Lit.), very modestly equipped.
In the November pogrom of 1938, the interior of the prayer room was damaged.
After 1945, the former synagogue was preserved, came in 1953 after completion of the restitution process first in the possession of the bärgerliche community, then in private hands, however, got in an increasingly dilapidated condition and was finally demolished by the owner of the building in 1975. In November 1988, a memorial stone for the early Jewish inhabitants of the village was erected on the site of the former synagogue in Bahnhofstrasse. The text reads: "In memory of the Jewish citizens who became victims of National Socialism in 1942. Here was the location of the former synagogue."
