Ravensberger Straße 25
33824 Werther
Germany
In September 1840, the newly built synagogue was inaugurated for the congregation, which in the meantime had grown to 111 members. It was located in the rear area of the property Ravensberger Strasse 25. At this place there was already decades earlier a smaller predecessor building. Behind the synagogue was the shul house for ritual shul according to the Jewish dietary laws. The synagogue was severely damaged during the Reich Pogrom Night on November 10, 1938, plundered and thus rendered unusable. In 1954 the ruins of the synagogue were completely demolished, and in 2011 the shack was demolished. Since 1994, a memorial stone with a bronze plaque on Ravensberger Strasse commemorates the synagogue and the murder of most of Werther's Jewish population.
After the devastation in the night of November 10-11, 1938, the synagogue was left to decay.
