Since 1846- the presumed year of construction- the building served the small Jewish community üfor over 90 years, as a prayer and meeting house. From 1924 onwards, the Jewish community declined sharply, so that the building was sold on March 6, 1938. Since then the synagogue was used as a barn. In the night of November 9-10, 1938, SA people appeared at the synagogue and wanted to douse it with gasoline and burn it. A man from the neighborhood walked by and shouted to the SA people: "Don't do that, the synagogue is now privately owned!" By this coincidence, the Mingolsheim synagogue was saved from destruction at the last minute.
Over the years, many structural changes were made, windows and fixtures were removed, and a false ceiling was added. The located in the private courtyard is now used as a storage room. In the courtyard there was also a well which was used as a Jewish cult bath (mikvah).
Also the Hebrew year 1846.
