Kleine Stavenstraße 9-11
17207 Röbel/Müritz
Germany
The synagogue was built in 1831 (a corresponding dating on the building was discovered during the renovation 2000-2003) and used by the Jewish community in Röbel for about 100 years. It is not certain whether there was already a Jewish prayer house at the same place before.
The building is a simple half-timbered structure, the compartments of which are filled with brick. Nine large windows (three each on the north, east and south sides) let plenty of light into the interior. Men and women entered the synagogue through different entrances. The women followed the service from a gallery.
Neither the interior nor the women's gallery have survived. During the renovation, a gallery was installed in the room (presumably in the place of the old one?).
