In 1816 the stone synagogue was built. When in 1914 during World War I large parts of the city burned down, the synagogue building was also badly damaged. Pictures show that only the outer walls were preserved. In 1923 a reconstruction or a new building was planned, but this was not realized due to lack of money. The reconstruction carried out in 1930 retained the outer walls. The (no longer existing) mansard roof with curved gables was replaced by a hip roof
.After World War II and the murder of the Jewish population in the Holocaust, the building was used as a cultural center for many years. In the process, among other things, some high-ceilinged windows were extended downward and others were bricked up. An L-shaped, one-story addition along two sides was added. The interior decoration is destroyed. Later, the building stood unused for many years and threatened to fall into disrepair. Since 2019, restorations have been carried out; as can be seen in pictures, the elongated windows have been restored to their original form and the extensions have been demolished. The roof has also already been renewed.
