About the foundation of the cemetery there is no information. However, it is assumed that burials took place here over a period of about 100 years. A burial register is not handed down.

The Jewish cemetery is not far from the train station, it is marked, there is an archway and a memorial stone.

The Yiddish inscription reads in transcription: "The old Yiddish Beit Olam (Hebrew "cemetery") / Holy is the memory of the deceased" Below it in Lithuanian: "Old Jewish Cemetery"

The current entrance gate to the marked area of the Smalininkai Jewish Cemetery.
Gedenkstein für die Verstorbenen auf dem Jüdischen Friedhof Smalininkai
A flat pedestal, covered with loose pebbles. An upright tablet in the shape of a Jewish tombstone, rounded at the top. With two panels with inscriptions. Behind it a large erratic boulder of gray-green granite, which gives the whole an irregular round shape. Behind it trees of the adjacent forest and in the background parts of the sports field.
