Apartment of the family Eduard and Kurt Lippmann

Eduard Lippmann came to Greiz in 1887. From 1892 at the latest, the merchant lived at Marktstrasse 57, three years later at Marktstrasse 5 and in 1898 in an apartment at Neumarkt 10 (today: Puschkinplatz). At that time he was a manager in the Heinrich Tietz department store. He married Henriette (née Jordan) and in 1902 their son Kurt was born. From about 1901 to 1908 he lived with his family in Idastra;e 26. Between 1908 and 1910 they moved into the residential house in Gartenweg 2. At first Eduard Lippmann was a merchant in the department store Tietz, since 1910 he was the sole owner of this department store in Greiz (Ernst-Arnold-Platz 10). His son Kurt Lippmann became co-owner in 1921 and from 1931 the two were owners of the store „Wohlwert“ in Marktstraße 4 (with real name: „Eduard Lippmann & Sohn, Einheitspreis-Kaufhaus“). Kurt Lippmann married his wife Charlotte in 1929 at the latest. Their daughter Ruth was born in 1930, followed by her brother Günther in 1934. Kurt Lippmann emigrated to Brazil together with his family and parents after the Aryanization of both businesses in 1938. The Lippmann family built a new existence there
