Friedrich-Wolf was born in Neuwied a.R. as the son of a Jewish merchant family in 1888. 1899-1907: he completed sports activities such as rowing, swimming, gymnastics.... 1907: he studied medicine in Tübingen. 1913: he left the Jewish religious community and considered himself a non-religious Jew. There were no more Jewish celebrations in the family circle. 1914: he was active as a troop doctor in WW1. 1921 Self-study of naturopathy and country doctor in Herchingen. 1922: Friedrich cultivated a close relationship with the bourgeois youth movement in the Stuttgart area. 1928 he joins the KPD( Communist Party of Germany). In 1929 his play "Cyankali" initiated a campaign against §218. In 1933 he leaves Germany for France and finishes "Professor Mamlock". Exile of the family in Moscow in 1934. 1936 Lecture in Scandinavia and performance Professor Mamlock. 1938 Filming of "Professor Mamlock" in the Soviet Union. 1945 Post-war period, politically active in Berlin in the field of culture. 1949 Appointment as representative of the GDR in Poland. 1953 Anniversary lecture on the 125th anniversary of the Reclam publishing house "Thomas Muenzer". 05.10.1953 he died in today's memorial in Lehnitz of a heart attack, as a result of a not cured flu.
The Friedrich Wolf Society is financed mainly by donations. To visit it is always on Fr 10-14 clock and by appointment. To see are the original furnishings, as he had it during his lifetime.
