The Jewish Community of Berlin is organized as a unitary congregation that operates six community synagogues, both Orthodox and liberal. Since 2006, Berlin has also had a Sephardic synagogue. Three rabbis of the Jewish community and several other rabbis, including a woman again since 2007, work in Berlin. With more than 10,000 members (March 1, 2018) the Jewish Community of Berlin is the largest Jewish community in Germany. It offers its members a wide-ranging Jewish infrastructure, including nine synagogues, two ritual immersion baths, several schools, adult education, a nursing home, assisted living, a senior citizens' residential home and an outpatient care service.
The Jewish community considers one of its most important tasks to be the social support of needy members, especially the integration of immigrants from the CIS countries, who make up more than three quarters of the membership around 2010. For a Jewish education, the Jewish daycare center, the Heinz Galinski Elementary School, and the Moses Mendelssohn Jewish High School, among others, are open to children and young people. There is also a youth center and numerous other activities for Jewish youth.
