In the middle of the 19th century in Krudenburg, a place on the
right bank of the Lippe, about 18 km upstream from the Lippemündung near
Wesel, Jewish families can be traced. On a historical map can be found
the house of a family Aron Wolf in the village center. As residents are
the members of this family certainly in 1865 verifiable,
möglicherweise, however, the family has already lived länger in Krudenburg.
Anyway, the establishment of a cemetery indicates several families.
The first reliable evidence üabout the number of Jewish inhabitants
of the village is found in the cadastres of the Bürgermeisterei Schermbeck
of 1871: There Krudenburg is described as a „Flecken“ with 128 ha.
„At Köpfen are there 6 Jews, 22 Protestants and 5 Catholics
countedählt“. But there must have lived already in the early 18th century Jewish
families in Krudenburg, because for the year 1728 is mentioned in
Krudenburg an Isaak Gumprecht, 1735 a Moses Matthias.

Krudenburg had at that time a small port and lived and lived from
the towboat navigation on the Lippe. This was flat load cranes from the
shore with horses or by people up or
down the Lippe. Around the middle of the 19th century, a lively
building activity, a post office, many crafts, a school testify to
relative prosperity of the population. With industrialization,
greaterö&aerial;cranes were needed. Bridges hindered navigation, as did a falling
water level. The importance of Krudenburg declined accordingly
zurückück.In individual sources it is reported that in the upper floor
of the house Aron Wolf jüdischer service was held.
