Nathan Jakob, born 5 5 1879 in Regensburg was the son of Samuel Jakob and Dorothea, née Samuelewitsch,both coming from Thorn in East Prussia and moving to Regensburg after their marriage.At the time of Nathan's birth, Samuel Jakob was the sheriff in the Jewish community of Regensburg.
