Cemetery

The Jewish Cemetery Merxheim is a cemetery in the local community of Merxheim (Nahe) in the district of Bad Kreuznach in Rhineland-Palatinate.

The cemetery might have been established in the 18th century. The area of the cemetery is 13,61 ares. The cemetery consists of an old part, where only a small part of the gravestones are still preserved, and a newer part.    
   
November 1994: In Nassau, young people from the school center set an example and restored the Jewish cemetery on the B 417. The cemetery had been desecrated by unknown perpetrators.

The oldest gravestone that can be dated with certainty is from 1706. The cemetery was occupied until 1942. The cemetery area covers 111.94 (or 110.37) acres. A cemetery hall was present since 1908. It was severely damaged in the 1938 pogrom night; the ruin was demolished in 1947.
