Jewish cemetery Eppelsheim

Complete profile
60
The Jewish cemetery in Eppelsheim (Alzey-Worms district, Rhineland-Palatinate) was established in 1833 on an elongated rectangular area on Dintesheimer Weg west of the village and enclosed by a quarry stone wall. The cemetery also served as a burial place for Jews from Gundersheim, barely four kilometers away, and Westhofen, more than seven kilometers away. 70 gravestones with death dates from 1817(!) to 1916 have been preserved. Since 1977 the gravestones, which are mainly made of sandstone and in the case of the youngest specimens of black-swedish, have been placed on the wall.
