Hermann Bry was born in on August 23, 1872 in Schrimm (now Poland). In 1926, he was first named as the owner of the "Kaufhaus Hermann Bry" at Baumschulenstraße 12; his home address was Rodelbergweg 12. His business was the target of the boycott of Jewish stores on April 1, 1933. Hermann Bry died of a stroke in 1935 at the age of 63 and was buried in the Jewish Cemetery in Berlin-Weißensee in section N7. From 1935, his wife Emma Bry took over the business in Baumschulenstraße.
