Initially there was a prayer room (synagogue) in a private Jewish house. In 1846, during a visit to Ober-Gleen, the Grand Ducal Land Rabbi Levy recommended the extension of the synagogue. Whether this was done at that time is not known. There were insufficient funds for a new building at that time. After all, a fund for a new synagogue building was created in October 1846.

The owner has been trying to restore the building since 1987 and to use it as a residential house. Measures to be carried out within the framework of the preservation of historical monuments exceeded his financial possibilities (1 million DM), public subsidies were not received. He got permission to demolish the right half of the building and rebuilt. (Imitation planned). Renovation is pending on the left half (former synagogue). Repair of the roof took place.
