After the war, the building was returned to the Jewish community of Thuringia. However, because there were no more Jews in Vacha, the building was then sold.
Contradictory statements in the literature on the destruction during the Nazi period : synagogue completely destroyed (Arlt, Ehlers et al., 1992) and synagogue demolished inside, outside largely undamaged (Kahl, 1997)

Already in the 15th century there was possibly a synagogue, which is said to have been destroyed by Schwarzburg soldiers in 1492. But this indication has been doubted several times.
Whether there was a prayer room in the 16th century is not known.
