A Jewish community in Bonfeld (today a district of Bad Rappenau) existed after the mention of individual Jews in the 16th century again from 1717 and increased rapidly after 1766 with the permission of the settlement of sons of Jews.In 1780 a synagogue was built, in 1803 there was a first Bonfelder Judenordnung. The community had its largest number of members around 1850 with over 130 people, it then declined sharply due to emigration and exodus and became extinct at the time of National Socialism, at which time over 20 Bonfeld Jews met their deaths.
