The history of the Jewish community of Lechenich, a small town about 20 km west of Cologne, covers a period of about 700 years. It begins in the 13th century and ends in 1942. The heyday of the Jewish community was at the end of the 19th century. Through the persecution of the Jews by the National Socialists, Jewish life in Lechenich was completely destroyed.
