The dead of the Jewish community of Ansbach were initially buried in Bechhofen.

A separate Jewish cemetery in Ansbach was established in 1816 and expanded in 1896. The first burial in the extension section was on July 26, 1896 (Jeanette Lehmann). The cemetery area covers a total of 39.90 ares. The cemetery is surrounded by a sandstone wall which was rebuilt after 1945. Already in April 1927 and in October 1932 gravestones were knocked over and partly smashed in the cemetery. During the Nazi period the cemetery was largely destroyed, so that of the original 561 gravestones only 117 from the period from 1829 to 1949 remain. The Tahara House was also severely damaged during the Nazi period and was demolished by the city in 1944. A central path leads through the property to a memorial stone on the southern wall.
