95448 Bayreuth
Germany
There was a continuous settlement again since the 18th century. The Jewish families who moved in at that time had initially buried their deceased in the Jewish cemetery in Burgkunstadt. In 1787 an own Jewish cemetery could be established in Bayreuth. The cemetery was expanded several times in the following decades. The large, three-nave cemetery hall is still preserved today. A massive stone wall surrounds the cemetery. To the right of the entrance gate there is an old well. There are three graves sections. To the left of the entrance there are old, very ornate gravestones. In the center are the oldest stones, also beautifully and artistically worked, towards the back are newer stones. To the right of the center there are newer and newest gravestones. There are several memorial plaques in the cemetery.
