Jewish inhabitants can be traced in sources for the first time in 1714 in Alps.

In the period until 1802, 17 families moved into the village. Until the beginning of the 19th century the number of Jewish citizens remained relatively constant at 60 to 70 people.

Around the year 1800 a synagogue is mentioned for the first time in today's Burgstrasse next to the church. Next to it was the Jewish religious school. The mikvah was located in today's Alte Kirchstrasse.

The synagogue was destroyed in 1938 and later demolished. Today, a memorial plaque commemorates the synagogue and the murdered Jewish fellow citizens.
