Elise Rheinhold was born on July 30, 1865 in Celle to the merchant and banker Philipp Daniel and his wife Ernestine, née Meyer, a Jewish family that had lived in Celle since the end of the 17th century, where Philipp Daniel ran a money, exchange and banking business.Philipp and Ernestine Daniel had four children - Anna, married name Hess, born on May 27, 1855, Martha, married name Enoch, born on July 7, 1856, Eugen, born on October 22, 1858 and Elise, born on July 30, 1865. Born in Oberlahnstein on March 14, 1855, Otto Rheinhold settled in Celle in 1874 and, together with his older brother Sartorius, was involved in supplying the local military before founding a mining company, Vereinigte Kieselguhr- und Korksteingesellschaft, with his brother in 1887.Elise and Otto Rheinhold had three sons - Paul, born on November 18, 1887 - killed in action in the First World War on August 10, 1914 at the age of 26 in Verdun, Kurt, born on September 17, 1888 - died at the age of 5 on January 12, 1894 and Eugen Walter, born on May 20, 1897 in Hanover - died on November 27, 1973 in Hanover. Otto Rheinhold died on August 16, 1937 at the age of 82, after his death his widow Elise Rheinhold moved to Hanover and in September 1941 Elise Rheinhold was forcibly accommodated in the Jewish house Ohestraße 9. After the evacuation of the „Judenhaus“, Elise was probably sent to the former Israelite Horticultural School Ahlem, which had been converted into a collection point.On July 27, 1942, Elise Rheingold  was deported to Theresienstadt with the third and last major transport äof elderly Jews from northwest Germany, 779 in total. She died there just four weeks later on August 23, 1942 at the age of 77, and her sister Anna Hess was deported to Theresienstadt in 1943 at the age of 88. She died on September 28, 1943, presumably of hypothermia and exhaustion.
