Aron Baruch Dessauer was born on February 21, 1763 in Gochsheim (Baden). His parents  were the head of the Jewish community of Gochshein Baruch Dessauer and Mindel, née Seligmann. Aron Baruch Dessauer was a court banker and army supplier to the Elector of Mainz Karl Theodor von Dalberg. In 1792 Aron Baruch Dessauer came to K nigshofen ob der Tauber (Baden) and married Behlasina (Belusina, Beile) David, born on June 25, 1775 in K nigshofen; her parents were Joseph David, a merchant and tradesman, and Henriette, née Sontheim. When von Dalberg became Lord of the Principalities of Aschaffenburg and Regensburg in 1803, Aron Baruch Dessauer also moved to Aschaffenburg. There he and his family converted to Catholicism. He was given the baptismal name Alois, his wife was given the name Anna Elisabeth and the children were given the names Joseph, Georg and Karl Friedrich. The fourth child, Franz Johann, was baptized Catholic at birth. On September 5, 1805, Alois Dessauer decided to invest his capital in new industries after receiving the burgher's charter from the city of Aschaffenburg. He became a manufacturer of paper, printing tablets and fine ink and founded the Aschaffenburg colored paper factory in 1810. From 1814 he also became publisher of the Allgemeine Staatskorrespondenz. Already an honorary member of the Aschaffenburg Schützengesellschaft in 1805, Alois Dessauer sat on the city council as a magistrate from 1826. Alois Dessauer died in Aschaffenburg on April 11, 1850.

The sons and grandsons continued Alois Dessauer s legacy, worked in the paper industry and became involved in local politics.
