Isidor Goldschmidt was born on September 27, 1846 in Lemförde.His parents were the Lemförder merchant Samuel Goldschmidt and his wife Johanna Goldschmidt née Cohn.1872/73 Isidor Goldschmidt married Fanny Katzenstein, a native of Rinteln, daughter of the merchant Hermann Katzenstein and his wife Schönchen. née Seckel.The couple had two daughters and two sons.1873 In 1873 Isidor Goldschmidt moved to Dortmund, where he lived at Westenhellweg 90 and ran an agency for Magdeburger Allgemeine Versicherungs-AG for Dortmund and the surrounding area.1874 he moved to Schwanenwall 49.1876 he traded in firewood, among other things.1877 This was followed by another move to Bornstrasse 28, where Isidor Goldschmidt opened his agency business in grain and country products, which was very successful. His commitment to the synagogue community and Jewish organizations was exemplary - in October 1875 he was elected deputy representative, later representative, from 1909 deputy board member and from 1915 board member of the synagogue community.He was a member of the board of the Dortmund Israelite School, became chairman of the Association of Synagogue Communities of Westphalia in 1903 and was a member of the general board of the Association of Israelite Retirement Homes for the Province of Westphalia. His voluntary work knew no bounds - in the Chamber of Commerce, as a juror and commercial judge and much more. Isidor Goldschmidt died on August 19, 1919.
