The roots of the Baldauf family lie in Binswangen, where Nathan Baldauf, born on July 2, 1847, lived with his family and ran a large textile business.

After Nathan Baldauf's death on August 9, 1900, his wife Lina (1848 - 1928) decided to move to Dillingen in 1903.There she acquired a well-established textile business at Stadtberg 31 and continued to run it together with her son Emil.The Baldauf family enjoyed a high reputation in Dillingen.Emil Baldauf was married to Ella Bachmann, born on September 13, 1887.The couple had three children- Kurt,born.11Charlotte, born in 1914, and Hans, born in 1919.Emil Baldauf (1882 - 1927) was already a member of the Dillingen town council at the age of 32 and served two terms in office.From 1914-1918 he was managing director of the municipal association and was later awarded the King Ludwig Cross.He also put his heart and soul into other associations in Dillingen. For 18 years he was 1st and 2nd chairman of the fruit-growing and bee-keeping association of the town of Dillingen, and for two decades he was an active member of the local fire department. From 1923, he was chairman of the board of the General Local Health Insurance Fund, and the gymnastics, ice sports and civic associations also experienced the life of Emil Baldauf.Emil Baldauf died in a clinic in Würzburg in 1927 at the ripe old age of 45.He found his final resting place in the Jewish cemetery in Würzburg.Lina Baldauf died in 1928. In the same year, Emil Baldauf´s handsome villa in Frühlingsstra<e was sold.1932 saw the sale of the business premises at Stadtberg 31.Kurt Baldauf fled Nürnberg for France as early as 1933.After Gurs and Les Milles, he was deported and murdered in Auschwitz.Ella Baldauf managed to escape to the USA with her daughter Charlotte in 1940. Hans Baldauf also emigrated to the United States in 1937. Emil Baldauf's brother Leopold, Kommerzienrat, banker, director of the Stiftsbrauerei and great benefactor in Dilingen, died in Dillingen in 1930.
