Julius Isaak Halle was born on December 18, 1864 in Schnaitach. His parents were David Halle, a teacher in Munich, and Jette Halle, née Rosenthal. Julius Halle had three siblings - Karolina (Lina, married) Kronheimer, born on February 1, 1867 in Schnaittach, widowed, died on March 18, 1939 in Munich. -Berta, married Haas, born March 19, 1869 in Schnaittach, emigrated to Brussels, Belgium in July 1939 and Nathan, born March 7, 1870 in Schnaittach, emigrated to San Diego in December 1935, died on November 15, 1954 in San Diego, California.Julius Halle was married to Ida, née Fichtelberger, born on May 24, 1884 in Schnaittach. - The Julius Halle antiquarian bookshop was founded in 1889. Julius Halle paid particular attention to rare old prints (especially incunabula, Americana, copper engravings), but also the field of graphics, such as portraits, mezzotints and color engravings, also with auctions were part of the business.After Julius Halle's death on December 9, 1927 in Munich, his wife Ida Halle continued to run the antiquarian bookshop. When the National Socialists seized power, Ida Halle gave part of the stock to an acquaintance of the family, Ernst Horwitz, who had fled to the Netherlands, for sale on consignment in the Netherlands. Emil Offenbacher, an employee since 1931, was able to transfer another part to Paris. Ida Halle emigrated to Switzerland in 1933 and continued the antiquarian book trade in Zurich. The München company was liquidated in 1935 and the remaining stock was auctioned off by Karl & Faber in München and Graupe in Berlin. In 1935, Ida Halle finally moved to Switzerland to live with her daughter Bessy Neu-Halle.
