Max Simon was born on August 10, 1850 in Werden an der Ruhr. His parents were the textile merchant Herz Simon and Bella Simon, née Kaufmann. Max Simon had seven siblings - three sisters and four brothers. Max Simon was the third youngest. Max Simon was married to Rosalie den Arend. Rosalie was born in Rotterdam on November 1, 1855. Her parents were Andries Aron den Arend and Hijacinthe, née Bles. On June 26, 1877 Max and Rosalie married in Rotterdam. Max Simon and his brothers Siegmund and Friedrich moved to Osnabrück. The eldest of the brothers, Leopold, had taken over the management of the business in Werden. Max and Friedrich Simon ütook over the textile company „Gebrüder Simon“ founded by their äolder brothers in 1869. After their marriage, Max and Rosalie Simon lived in Osnabrück. The couple had nine children, seven of whom were born in Osnabrück between 1878 and 1887. Henriette, Ella, Mathilde, Berta, Claire, Trude and Isabella. Ella died in 1881 at the age of 17 months. In 1888, Max Simon founded a branch of the Osnabrück wool factory in Berlin and moved to the capital with the whole family a year later. The company was renamed F. & M. Simon“ and was entered in the commercial register in 1900 as the Wäsche- und Schürzenfabrik. His son Hans was born in 1892, followed by Dorothea in 1895. Max Simon was not only a successful businessman. He was also a commercial judge, was appointed a commercial councillor in 1908 and later also a commercial court councillor. After the death of Friedrich Simon in Osnabrück in 1902, Max Simon continued to run the branch alone. In 1911, Walter Simon (Fiedrich's son) joined the company as a partner. Six years later, Hans Simon followed. Max Simon died of lung cancer on January 2, 1934. On September 5, 1942, Henriette Knopf and Mathilde Bielschowsky were deported from Moabit station to Riga and murdered there. Rosalie Simon died in Theresienstadt.
