Louis Wertheimer was born on September 4, 1873 in Gunzenhausen. His parents were Amson Wertheimer and Carolina Wertheimer, née Steppacher from Ichenhausen. Louis had eight siblings - four half-siblings from his father's 1st marriage to Amalia Lehmann, born on July 7, 1835 in Gunzenhausen, - Emma, born on July 20, 1863, - Elise, born on March 20, 1866, - Albert, born on April 13, 1867 and Siegfried, born on December 12, 1868. From his father's second marriage to Carolina Steppacher came the other four siblings - Simon, born on September 6, 1872, - Mina, born on October 16, 1874, - Wilhelm, born on March 4, 1876 and Frieda, born on December 17, 1879. Louis Wertheimer was married to Fanny Steppacher, born on May 7, 1891 in Ichenhausen. The couple had a daughter, Karola (Lola), married name Penzias, born on December 4, 1919 in Munich. After the death of his father in 1898, Louis and his brother Simon took over the father's business, an art gallery, which was entered in the Gunzenhausen trade register under the name A. Wertheimer from 1899 to 1919. Louis Wertheimer was co-owner of the art gallery until 1906. From 1909 he was registered as a commission agent in Munich. From 1936 until June 1, 1938 he worked for the company Bacher & Teichmann in Lauban, Silesia. Louis Wertheimer died on December 1, 1940 in Munich. Fanny Wertheimer was deported from Munich to Kaunas on November 20, 1941 and murdered there on November 25, 1941. Daughter Karola managed to emigrate to England in March 1939. In July 1940, she married Fred (Fritz) Penzias, who was born in Munich on October 13, 1915, in London.
