About the card - The postcard was addressed to the 8-year-old Julius Neumeyer, who of course still lived with his parents at that time, and the sender of the card was Sophie Rosenau, the mother of Emma Neumeyer and grandmother of Julius Neumeyer, born on May 16, 1898 in Chemnitz. - On December 1, 1891, Leopold Neumeyer opened a wholesale clothing store, followed by a move with the business to Wiesenstrasse 48, where he opened a factory on the first floor for the manufacture of masks.After Leopold Neumeyer had taken over an existing fabric weaving mill in Gablenz, he deregistered his Chemnitz business in January 1895.This was followed by the relocation of the Gablenz company to Chemnitz and its registration with the Chemnitz district court on January 10, 1898. The business expanded and soon the company was producing tablecloths and high-quality woven fabrics under its own brand name, in addition to expanding its product range with a variety of new products.In the meantime, Leopold Neumeyer had married Emma Rosenau from Augsburg on November 16, 1896, and on May 16, 1898, their only son Julius Paul was born. On January 1, 1928, Julius Neumeyer became a partner in the parent company and represented its interests at home and abroad.On December 1, 1931, the company celebrated its 40th anniversary.Leopold Neumeyer died after a long illness on May 14, 1936 in Chemnitz.From then on, Julius managed the company.Julius Neumeyer had married Irma Kahn from Lohr am Main in Chemnitz on June 20, 1928.The couple had three children, two of whom were born in Chemnitz: Heinz Berthold, born in 1929, and Wolfgang, born in 1933.Julius Neumeyer and his family emigrated to Switzerland as early as September 3, 1938.Emma Neumeyer followed in the spring of 1939.Julius Neumeyer and his family emigrated to Argentina in May 1939.Emma Neumeyer also received permission from Switzerland to emigrate to Argentina in September 1941.
