In the address book of the city of Würzburg from 1937 there are the following entries: Scheidt Max, Weinhandlung, Domerschulstr.25 I. - Scheidt Selma, wine merchant, Domerschulstr.25 R I. - Scheidt Sigismund, purveyor to the court, wine, spirits and tea merchant, Domerschulstr. 25 R II. - According to the business card, the business was founded as early as 1845. In 1871, Jonas Louis Scheidt moved with his family from Kitzingen to Würzburg and ran a wine trade there. Jonas Scheidt was born in Mainstockheim on August 17, 1841. On April 29, 1863, he applied for a trading license and a marriage license with Therese Kahn, who was born in Mainstockheim on June 14, 1844. On March 11, 1864, the couple received the necessary documents for the wedding. As far as is known, the couple had four children - Max, born on February 7, 1865 in Kitzingen, Frieda, born on March 21, 1867 in Kitzingen, Sigismund, born on May 28, 1869 in Kitzingen and Benno, born in 1872 in Würzburg - died on November 14, 1872 in Würzburg. Therese Scheidt died on December 25, 1897 in Würzburg. Almost 15 months later, Jonas Scheidt followed his wife. He died on December 23, 1899 in Würzburg. After the death of their father, Max and Sigismund Scheidt took over the wine, spirits and tea trading business and successfully expanded it. On November 26, 1899, Max Scheidt married Selma Geggel, born on December 25, 1878 in Nördlingen, who continued to run the business together with her brother-in-law Sigismund after Max Scheidt's death until its dissolution. Sigismund Scheidt married Vera Löwenthal, who was born in Archshofen on August 10, 1875, in 1901. In addition to his partnership, Sigismund also ran his own wholesale business in wine, spirits and tea. Sigismund Scheidt was arrested, his house confiscated and Sigismund Scheidt and his wife were placed in a Jewish home. On September 23, 1942, both were taken to Theresienstadt together with Selma, Max's widow. All three died there.
