Samuel Eberhardt, was born on March 22, 1833 in Maßbach, Hs. no. 158. Son of the cattle dealer Sender/ Alexander Eberhardt and Marianne, née Rosenstein. Resided in Hs. no. 80, married to Fanny, née Schild from Hs. no. 198 (grave 37). Samuel died at the age of 69 years and 9 months, on January 15, 1905. (He is the father of Sigmund Eberhardt in Hs. No.80)

Fanny Eberhardt, née Schild, was born on January 23, 1838 in Maßbach Hs. No.198. Daughter of the merchant Michael Schild and Marianne, née Krest ? Married since 1862 to the cattle dealer Samuel Eberhardt (grave 36). The Viehhändler's widow died at the age of 72 years and 4 months on May 11, 1910.

After the pogrom, the mayor had the Jewish residents pay RM 800 for the repair of the synagogue windows. He also offered to sell them the synagogue for RM 50. Master saddler Karl Geiling, in whose yard the synagogue stood, tried to buy the building, but this proved to be very difficult. The small Jewish community did not object to the sale to him in July 1942. The last two Jewish men - Sigmund Max Eberhardt and David Frank - "confirmed" their consent to the sale of the building to Karl Geiling in a document dated 1942

"Confirmation" from 1942 regarding the sale of the synagogue
When the house of Samuel Eberhardt, head of the Jewish community of Maßbach, was sold in 1921, Karl Geiling, master saddler, was given the assurance that as soon as the synagogue passed into other ownership, only Karl Geiling, master saddler of Maßbach, would be considered. Since Geiling has always been friendly to the Jewish community in every way and the Jews of Maßbach have partly emigrated, died and moved away, so that only 2 members of the Jewish community are still present, namely shop steward David Frank and Sigmund Eberhardt, they support with their signature and community stamp that only this property should be transferred to Karl Geiling master saddler in Maßbach when it is sold. Beschreibung
Sigmund Eberhardt - formerly resident in Maßbach house no. 80 - wrote from Argentina to the Jewish Community in Würzburg regarding the sale of the synagogue building to his friend Karl Geiling on May 30, 1948:
"Chos Malal 30/5.1948
Isr. Kultusgemeinde Unterfranken Würzburg Valentin-Beckerstrasse 11
As a former member of the Jewish community of Maßbach, my birthplace and former hometown, I would like to confirm that Mr. Karl Geiling from there was always very decent and well-disposed towards us Jews and I would therefore only like to advocate that the sale of our former synagogue be approved for him.
Yours sincerely, Sigmund Eberhardt."
