One of his sons, Jakob Theodor, born in Speyer on September 22, 1826, learned the trade of a merchant and supported his parents' business. When Carl David died on February 17, 1876, Theodor David took over the company. Franziska David had already died on July 11, 1858 at the age of 56, and in July 1853 Theodor David married the 31-year-old merchant's daughter Rosa, née Fulda from Worms. Unfortunately, Rosa David died three years later on July 25, 1856. Two years later, on July 7, 1858, Theodor David married again - to 19-year-old Emilia, née Feis from Deidesheim. The couple had two sons, Robert Samuel, born on April 10, 1859, and Oskar, born on June 10, 1861. For many years, Theodor David was chairman of the Board of Trade and a member and secretary of the Palatinate Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In 1884, Theodor David was elected to the municipal council of the city of Speyer and from then on was a member of the city parliament until the end of his life in 1898. After Theodor David's death on May 21, 1898, his son Robert David took over the company. In 1904, the business was relocated to Frankfurt am Main. The business in Speyer remained as a branch office. Robert David died in Frankfurt after a serious illness on March 30, 1932.
