The Stuttgart address book 1930 contains the following entry: Bonem Paul, Dr. med., specialist for internal diseases, Schellingstraße 13. 1. - Paul Bonem was born on June 21, 1888 in St. Wendel. His parents were Hermann Bonem, born on December 11, 1866 in Neumagen and Delphine Bonem, née Daniel. After his studies and his doctorate in medicine in Heidelberg in 1923, he initially worked at the Institute of Physiology at the University of Heidelberg. He later worked as a specialist in internal medicine at the Katharinenhospital in Stuttgart. Married to Irma Rosenmeyer (parents - Jacob Rosenmeyer, born January 27, 1871 in Langenschwarz and Sidonie Stern, born October 29, 1874 in Montabaur) since 1923, he moved to Stuttgart with his wife. Irma Rosenmeyer was a nurse and trained as a biochemical laboratory assistant. After moving to Stuttgart in 1929, Paul Bonem opened a practice there with his own x-ray machine and a chemical laboratory, supervised by his wife Irma. The practice flourished and also carried out analyses, examinations and x-rays for other doctors. This all changed when the National Socialists came to power. The requirement to add the words "Jew" to the practice sign and the threat of protective custody on the Heuberg were certainly decisive factors in his decision to leave Germany as quickly as possible. At the end of May 1933, the Bonem couple emigrated by car via Trieste to Palestine. In retrospect, the couple managed to collect furniture, the practice inventory, the laboratory and the x-ray machine. However, the new start in their new home turned out to be very difficult. Both of the couple's parents also managed to emigrate to Palestine.
