In Adolph Lehmann`s Allgemeiner Wohnungsanzeiger: nebst Handels- und Gewerbe-Adressbuch für die k.k. Reichshaupt- und Residenzstadt from the year 1896 contains the following entry: Eisenberg James, M.- u. Ph.Dr I. Löwelstr. 14. - James Eisenberg was born on June 15, 1861 in Prague.his parents were Eugen Eisenberg, born around 1826 in Berlin, and his wife Emilie Eisenberg, née Vienna, born on May 31, 1837 in Prague. James Eisenberg was married to Karoline von Mauthner, born in Vienna on May 15, 1868. The couple had two children - Emilie Hartwich - Brioschi, born on February 3, 1888 in Vienna and Franz Eisenberg, born on May 26, 1890 in Vienna - died on February 29, 1968 in Tel Aviv. James Eisenberg received his doctorate in chemistry from the University of Berlin in 1882. In 1887, he received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Vienna. In Berlin, James Eisenberg worked under the direction of Robert Koch at the Institute of Hygiene. In Vienna, he learned the surgical trade with Hofrat Breisky. In Stockholm, under Major Shure Brandt, he studied massage treatment for women's diseases. He published works on bacteriology and women's diseases. At the World Exhibition in Brussels he was awarded the Golden Medal for the exhibition of bacteriological specimens. He enjoyed a great reputation in Vienna. Dr. James Eisenberg died tragically of blood poisoning on 22 May 1910 in Vienna.
