The antiquarian bookshop B, Seligsberg in Bayreuth was founded in 1828. Benedikt ( Benno) Seligsberg was born in Bayreuth on January 20, 1801. His parents were Benjamin Nathan Seligsberg, from 1814 Seliger and his wife Eleonore, née Hamburger from Fürth. Benedikt Seligsberg had four brothers - Nathan Aharon Nate, born 1799 - died 1800, - Elkan, born 1802, - Ludwig Louis, born 1803, - Berman, born 1809 and Samson Schimschon, born 1810. Benedikt was "always crooked" and could "not learn a trade". In 1820 Benjamin Seliger asked his son Benedict, who was unable to learn a trade due to his physical weakness, to be granted a trading patent as an exception so that he could support him in his trade. In 1828, the Bücherantiqariat B. Seligsberg was founded. - Benedikt (Benno) Seligsberg was married to Julie Jached Seligsberg, née Würzburger, who was born in Bayreuth on December 23, 1804. The couple had a son - Benjamin (Benno) Seligsberg, born on March 9, 1841 - died in Würzburg on November 16, 1912 at the age of 71. Benjamin (Benno) Seligsberg was also an antiquarian bookseller in Bayreuth and for many years head of the Jewish Community of Bayreuth. His marriage to Johanna Seligsberg, née Hellmann, born on May 2, 1849 in Heidingsfeld, resulted in five children - Julius Seligsberg; Doris Seligsberg; Bernhard Seligsberg; Ella Seligsberg and David Seligsberg. - In the address book of the city of Bayreuth from 1924, the following entry can be found in the house and street directory at Kanzleistraße 15: Seuffer Fritz, Buchhändler und Antiquar - in the business register under bookshops: Seuffer Fr. (Benno Seligsberg´s successor), Kanzleistr.15.
