Old Jewish cemetery

In the Zobel’schen Schutzbriefe  (between 1710 and 1727), the Jews of Freudental were granted the right to establish a cemetery. This first cemetery was located in the Alleenfeld between Königsträßle and the road to Löchgau. However, in 1811 King Friedrich decided to have a pheasantry built on this site. The Jüdische cemetery was leveled, the gravestones were built into houses or ended up in road construction. Only a few fragments have survived, four stele fragments from the avenue field can be found today in the reconstructed mikvah of the Affaltrach synagogue.
