Moritz Thalheimer was the first Jewish cattle dealer in Winnenden. He came from Affaltrach in the Württemberg district of Weinsberg and came to the town in 1892 with his family - his wife Karoline and their three children Bertha, August and Anna. He had already been involved in trade beforehand. On May 12, 1892, he announced his business in the Winnender Volks- und Anzeigeblatt: "We will continue the livestock trade we have been operating in the same way as before and will provide a solid service. At the same time, we recommend our stock of bedding ducks, drells, bedsprings from the cheapest to the finest qualities, as well as ready-made beds.
Customers should report to Thalheimer's apartment "at Mr. Geometer Schüle" in Turmstraße 3.
In a curriculum vitae written in 1917, Bertha Thalheimer goes into the background to the change of location: "The reason for my father's move was, above all, to give us children a good school education. This was impossible in Affaltrach as there were only denominational elementary schools. My father had probably only attended elementary school, but had acquired a good general education on his own out of an inner urge. He wanted to spare us this laborious path of self-education ..."
