The Hirsch family came to Landshut in the 1890s and built the department store "Hermann Tietz Nachfolger" (management as directors of the department store chain) from 1901. Later, from 1961, the department store "Hertie" (now Galeria Karstadt Kaufhof) was relocated to the new building in Wittstraße (see Google/Streetview view in the links). The former department store is currently home to the perfumery "Douglas". The fashion house Brandl (buyer of the department store) existed in Vilsbiburg until December 31, 2020.

The Hirsch family later (1929) moved into a villa on "Hofberg" (Berg ob Landshut), then located at Brühfeldweg 182. Cilly Hirsch died after falling from a balcony in 1941, Adolf Hirsch was murdered in the Theresienstadt ghetto in 1943.

The relationship to Lilli Palmer, a well-known actress in the 50s - 80s, is remarkable and special. In the review of Lilli Palmer's biography given in the links, it emerges that Lilli's family did not succeed in persuading Cilly Hirsch to stay in England during a visit to London in 1936, despite a desperate, final appeal:

"Even in the cab, on the way to the station, we tried to change her mind. We pointed through the window at the people on the street. They were free, we were free – here was their only, last chance! My mother put her arm around her neck and looked her in the eye. »Cillychen, I beg you! Stay here! «" (c) Lilli Palmer: Fat Lilli – good child. - hockebooks Verlag/Legimi E-Books, 2013 (see also link)
