Sigmund Sichel was born on March 9, 1881 in Gemünden. His parents were Abraham Sichel, born on June 16, 1853 in Gemünden, and his wife Berta Sichel, née Hirsch, born on June 17, 1853 in Bronnbach.Sigmund had three siblings - Max, born on March 19, 1879, - Rosalie, married name Billigheimer, born on October 2, 1883 and Moris, born on December 30, 1887. His father, the merchant Abraham Sichel, moved with his family to Würzburg in 1893 to buy a business there, during which time the family lived at Semmelstraße 89, among other places. At the end of 1908, Abraham Sichel returned to Gemünden, where he was a partner in the M. Sichel company. Sigmund grew up in Gemünden am Main and Würzburg. After graduating from the New Grammar School, he did his military service as a one-year volunteer in 1901. After his vocational training, he worked as a businessman in Würzburg, then probably in Gemünden in the family firm M. Sichel. Sigmund Sichel lost his life in April 1918 as a private in the 9th Bavarian Infantry Regiment in the First World War.
