Moses Samuel Landauer was born on April 12, 1808 in Krumbach-Hürben. After an apprenticeship as a weaver and six years of traveling, he passed his master craftsman's examination in 1833 and set up his own business. The master weaver set up 2 looms in his parents' house. After his marriage to Klara Guggenheimer, he built himself a house in which he set up 12 looms in the cellar. From 1857 to 1858, he was finally able to put his own mechanical weaving mill with 32 looms into operation in his newly built factory in Krümbach-Hürben. In 1868, Moses Samuel Landauer moved the company headquarters to Augsburg for better sales opportunities. He managed the company himself until 1874, but then retired to private life. The management of the company passed to his sons and later to his grandchildren. In 1906, the weaving mill in Krumbach-Hürben fell victim to an arson attack. In 1933, there were 946 looms in the company halls in Augsburg-Oberhausen and the company employed 430 people. The company was aryanized in 1938. Moses Samuel Landauer died on December 24, 1893 at the age of 85. He found his final resting place in the Jewish cemetery in Krumbach-Hürben together with his wife Klara, who had already died on September 2, 1858.
