The following entry can be found in the city register of Nürnberg from 1876: Scherer Samuel, merchant, Marienstr.11 (Hirsch Scherer). -From the prehistory of the Jewish Community of Nürnberg - On July 21, 1850, after a period of 351 years, eight Jews were again granted the right of residence in Nürnberg. On September 10, 1852, Hirsch Scherer, Löb Hopf and Joseph Friedmann applied to the magistrate for police permission to celebrate the Jewish New Year's Day and the following day of celebration. This request was granted on the condition that the celebration of this service would not cause any outward noise." - On the occasion of an invitation by the merchant Löb Hopf to a meeting on 29. In addition to the host, Elias Kohn, Ignatz Wertheimer, Isaak Guthmann and Lippmann (Hirsch) Scherer also attended the meeting.Löb Hopf was elected head of worship and the religious teacher Jakob Asyl was appointed cantor, schoolteacher and community clerk. Lippmann Scherer was also a committee member of the Jewish Religious Association, which was founded on February 1, 1859.
