Bertha Rheinhold (born October 14, 1865 in Celle), née Levy, was the sister-in-law of Elise Rheinhold (Stolperstein at Bahnhofstraße 7). Her father was an important banker in Celle. She had been married to the Celle merchant Sartorius Rheinhold since 1887. The couple had three sons: Fritz, Klaus and Heinz. They moved to Hanover in 1895. However, Sartorius and his brother Otto continued to work in Celle, where their business premises were located at Im Kreise 9. As before in Celle, Sartorius was a member of the synagogue community in Hanover and was also involved in the Ahlem Israelite Horticultural School. Sartorius Rheinhold died in 1915, having designated his wife as his universal heir. The business was initially run by his brother Otto, later Fritz, Klaus and their cousin Walter Rheinhold joined the management. Bertha Rheinhold continued to live in Hanover until she moved to Berlin to live with her eldest son Fritz.
Fritz Rheinhold was deported from Berlin to Riga on September 5, 1942. He is considered "missing" in Auschwitz. Bertha Rheinhold was deported to Theresienstadt on October 4, 1942. She died there four days after her 77th birthday on October 18, 1942. Shortly before, on August 23, her sister-in-law Elise Rheinhold had died there. Heinz Rheinhold also died in a concentration camp in 1942. Klaus Rheinhold survived the National Socialist era.
