Hulda Süßkind, née  Graupe, was born in March 1871. Like her husband, the master tailor Siegfried Süßkind (b. 1868), she came from Posen. Siegfried opened a men's and boys' wardrobe shop in 1898 at Am Gro&ßen Plan 15 in Celle. The business included a tailor's shop and a large fabric store. Their only son Werner was born in 1902. The business developed positively, the product range was expanded and in September 1904 the company moved into larger premises at Poststrasse 10. However, weakened by the First World War and inflation, the shop's preferred location had to be abandoned in 1927, particularly due to the high rent. However, Süßkinds owned an apartment building at Fritzenwiese 48B, where she also lived herself. Here, the business continued to operate as a so-called storey business, presumably until Siegfried's death on September 7, 1935.

One year after his father's death, his only son Werner emigrated to Palestine. Hulda Süßkind may also have intended to emigrate there, as she had already spent two months in Palestine at the end of 1935, but returned to Celle in January 1936. After the pogrom night on November 9/10, 1938, Hulda Süßkind was forced to sell the house at Fritzenwiese 48B. According to the purchase contract, she had the right to live in one room of her old apartment. As far as is known, Hulda Süßkind was now planning to emigrate to Palestine to join her son. First, however, she went to Berlin in January 1940, where relatives lived, presumably two of her husband's brothers: Isidor and Paul Süßkind.

Hulda Süßkind no longer had the opportunity to emigrate: On September 14, 1942, at the age of 71, she was deported to Theresienstadt on the second large „geriatric transport“, which held a total of 1000 people. She only survived for a short time. The „Berlin Memorial Book of the Jewish Victims of National Socialism“ gives February 5, 1943 as the date of her death.
