The address book of the city of Karlsruhe from 1937 contains the following entry: Baer Max, Eisenwarenhandlung, Gartenstraöe 12. - In the fall of 1935, Max Baer, exporter of small ironware to France, Switzerland, Belgium, Holland and the French colonies, applied for a foreign passport. The Karlsruhe Chamber of Industry and Commerce approved the application with reference to Baer's monthly export earnings of 15,000 Reichsmarks and the fact that the French competition was trying to make it impossible for Baer to continue its business activities. - In the aryanization files 1933-1945, Josef Martin is named as the buyer of Baer, Max, Eisen- und Metallwaren-Export Karlsruhe.
